Modification of period of wait following
notice to Congress of intent to contract for leases of certain
vessels and vehicles (sec. 886) The committee recommends a provision that would amend section 2401(h) of title 10, United States Code, to eliminate the requirement of notification of Congress and then having to wait for 30 days of a continuous session of Congress to pass before a vessel lease contract may be made. The proposed change would ensure that Congress continues to receive a 30-day notice of proposed charters, but would eliminate the uncertainty that results from a congressional schedule that seldom provides a period of 30 days of continuous session. |
