Report on intellectual property
policy and the cadre of intellectual property experts (sec. 838) The House amendment contained a provision (sec. 861(d)) that would amend section 802 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018 (Public Law 115-91; 131 Stat. 1450) by requiring the Secretary of Defense, acting through the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, to submit a report on activities to implement section 2322 of title 10, United States Code, to include the composition and plans for the cadre, and the policy on the acquisition or licensing of intellectual property required. The provision would also limit the funds the Department may obligate or expend until the report is submitted. The Senate bill contained no similar provision. The Senate recedes with a an amendment that would require that the report include a description of the specific activities performed, and the programs and efforts supported by, the cadre of intellectual property experts and would change the Department of Defense offices subject to limitation of funds. |
