Notwithstanding any other provision of law, amounts authorized to carry out the FFG-Frigate Program may be used to award a new contract that provides for the acquisition of the following components regardless of whether those components are manufactured in the United States:

(1) Auxiliary equipment (including pumps) for shipboard services.

(2) Propulsion equipment (including engines, reduction gears, and propellers).

(3) Shipboard cranes.

(4) Spreaders for shipboard cranes.

The House amendment contained a provision (sec. 810) that would allow funds authorized for the FFG-Frigate program to be used to award a contract that does not domestically source propulsion or certain auxiliary equipment.

The Senate bill contained no similar provision.

The Senate recedes.

This section would allow funds authorized for the FFG-Frigate program to be used to award a contract that does not domestically source propulsion or certain auxiliary equipment.
